Do you love your legs?

Spider veins are red, varicose veins are blue. If you have either, here is what you can do.

Spider veins are small, red or purple thread veins under the skin’s surface.

Threated using very fine needles to target the individual veins and flush them through with a chemical sclerosant. Magnification is used in order to be meticulous. Spider Vein are considered to be cosmetic, and retreatment is usually required every few years.

Varicose veins are larger bluish veins often they can become “ropey” and protrude from the skin.

Varicose veins affect up to 50% of the population, men and women alike. Most commonly they are hereditary, but lifestyle can exasperate venous disease. If left untreated, some varicose veins can lead ulcers, swollen legs, pain, and an increased risk of blood clots.

Varicose veins are predominantly treated using Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy and the larger ones may require Endovenous Laser Ablation. These newer procedures replace surgical stripping and allow patients to be treated without the need for hospitalisation and a general anaesthetic. The results are highly effective and with very small recurrence rates when compared to traditional surgical stripping.
