Spider Veins? What You Need To Know.

If you have been considering treatment on your Spider Veins here is the rundown:

  • If you have any symptoms (pain) or a family history of varicose veins, have an ultrasound examination first to ensure there are no underlying insufficient larger veins. Failure to treat these correctly from the outset can lead to "matting" a complication of new very fine veins forming.

  • Notify your phlebologist of any medications that you take including supplemental therapies.  Some including fish oil can reduce the affects of sclerotherapy.

  • Compression stockings should always be worn  for at least five days and nights post treatment. No one likes to wear them however they do mean better results!

  • Keep in mind that the cosmetic treatment of spider veins is never completely permanent. Over time, new veins might develop and so you may need a maintenance session in a few years to keep those legs looking tip top.
